Government Oppression

The Hunger Games is primarily designed to oppress and control the districts in Panem.  What other forms of the Capitol's control do the people in District 12 experience?

  2. Well it’s messed up that people have to live lick this way. By suffering of hunger, cold, toxins, disasters. Like books and movies. A Child Called It and of course the hunger games. Why did the government basically control their lives what they eat. How do live with their lives. So pore, hungry, basically lifeless

  3. I think that it is dumb that they have to starve and suffer, and its stupid that the government controls there food and what they eat and not eat.

  8. The capitol in both cases are so strict and dangerous that the people of Panam or people form North Korea are afraid that if they say something wrong or bad about the government there will be severe punishments.

  9. In district 12 they aren’t allowed to have any weapons, in the book when Katniss was younger her mom would get scared because Katniss would say bad things the capitol. The capitol doesn’t help support them or give them food, they make them starve. They are fenced in and have no freedom at all.

  10. They are not allowed to have any weapons. They only get a certain amount of supplies to live off of. Some of the Rebellion’s hunt or find items and trade it at the Hob for better stuff.

  11. The districts experience many different types of oppression. The districts only have a certain amount of time having power in their own homes. They also don’t get a lot of food. They don’t have any of the freedoms we have in the United States today. They are being controlled by a dictator. They don’t any say in there laws or there government.

  13. Other forms of the Capitol's control that the people in District 12 experience is they control everything. The people don't have electicity but, about 3 hours of the day.The Capitol says how much food they can get and alot of people die of starvation and the Capitol trys to cover it up to make themselves look like they give alot. The Capiol also controls what they say by killing the people or hurting them and their families if they say something bad.For example.in part one of the Hunger Games, katniss said she would always scare her mother to die because she would saw bad thing. Also, when she said something bad about the Capitol in the middle of the woods she turned to make sure no one heard her, she said "even out here you got to watch what you say".

  14. People in panem experience things like people in North Korea do. They have little, amounts of food they are fenced in, and the government controls everything.
